WHEREAS, The International Cricket Council (ICC) Men's T20 World 1
Cup brought together the world's leading cricketing nations in one of 2
the sport's premier international competitions; and3
WHEREAS, The United States Men's National Cricket Team competed 4
with distinction on the global stage, reflecting the continued growth 5
of cricket within the United States; and 6
WHEREAS, Bellevue, Washington resident Shadley Van Schalkwyk 7
delivered an exceptional individual performance during the 8
tournament's group phase, finishing the group stage as the leading 9
wicket-taker among all participating players; and 10
WHEREAS, Leading the tournament in wickets required dismissing 11
some of the most accomplished batters in international cricket and 12
demonstrated extraordinary skill, discipline, and competitive 13
excellence; and 14
WHEREAS, The ICC Men's T20 World Cup is followed by hundreds of 15
millions of fans worldwide, making this achievement a matter of 16
international recognition and pride; and 17
WHEREAS, Washington state's growing diversity and global 18
engagement are reflected in the expanding popularity of international 19
sports such as cricket within our communities; and20
WHEREAS, Cricket participation and youth development programs in 21
Washington state continue to expand, reflecting the sport's growing 22
presence and community impact across the region; and23

WHEREAS, The accomplishments of Shadley Van Schalkwyk bring 1
distinction to the City of Bellevue, to Washington state, and to the 2
United States, while inspiring young athletes across our region;3
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State House 4
of Representatives recognize and honor Shadley Van Schalkwyk for his 5
outstanding performance representing the United States in the ICC 6
Men's T20 World Cup and for his contributions to the growth of 7
cricket in Washington state and throughout the nation.8
