WHEREAS, On February 8, 2026, the Seattle Seahawks capped their 1
historic season and won the second NFL championship in the team's 50-2
year history by defeating the New England Patriots 29-13 in Super 3
Bowl LX at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California; and4
WHEREAS, The Seahawks were led by a dominant defense and a 5
balanced offense that controlled the line of scrimmage and tempo of 6
the game, with running back Kenneth Walker III earning Super Bowl 7
Most Valuable Player honors after a powerful rushing performance and 8
Jason Myers breaking a Super Bowl record by kicking five field goals 9
and becoming the first player in NFL history to score over two 10
hundred points in a single season; and 11
WHEREAS, The Seahawks' victory in Super Bowl LX was especially 12
sweet for "the 12s," professional football's loudest, most loyal, and 13
most dedicated fan base, known for disrupting opposing offenses and 14
causing them to false start, including during Super Bowl LX, because 15
it was vindication for the bitter and heartbreaking loss to the same 16
New England Patriots franchise in Super Bowl XLIX eleven years ago, 17
after which the Seahawks have failed to appear in, let alone win, the 18
Super Bowl or even the NFC Championship; and 19
WHEREAS, In capturing the poetry and significance of the 20
Seahawks' triumphant return to glory, the front page headline of the 21
February 9, 2026, edition of The Seattle Times consisted of a single 22
word, "REDEMPTION!" above a photograph of linebacker Uchenna Nwosu 23

sky holding the football he had just intercepted and returned 46 2
yards for the Seahawks final touchdown of Super Bowl LX; and3
WHEREAS, Wide receiver Cooper Douglas Kupp, a native of Yakima, 4
Washington, a graduate of A.C. Davis High School and Eastern 5
Washington University, has distinguished himself as one of the most 6
accomplished players of his generation by earning Super Bowl LVI's 7
Most Valuable Player honors and leading this year's championship 8
Seahawks as a captain and playmaker throughout the season, including 9
key receptions in both the 2026 NFC Championship and Super Bowl, 10
while always exhibiting discipline, humility, and perseverance and 11
serving as a source of enduring pride and inspiration for Yakima and 12
all of Washington state; and 13
WHEREAS, Right tackle Abraham "Abe" Lucas, an Everett, 14
Washington, native and Archbishop Murphy High School and Washington 15
State University alumnus and Seahawks starter helped turn around the 16
offensive line this year and contributed to a significantly improved 17
run game and pass protection scheme that unleashed one of the most 18
prolific offenses of the 2025 NFL season, while exemplifying both 19
elite professional achievement and the development of local 20
Washington football talent; and 21
WHEREAS, Quarterback Sam Darnold delivered a Pro Bowl season 22
punctuated by a clutch playoff run where he threw for 672 yards and 23
five touchdowns with zero interceptions and finished with an 24
exceptional 102.4 passer rating across the three games, providing 25
steady leadership, efficiency, and poise while guiding the Seahawks' 26
offense through critical moments in both the regular season and 27
postseason; and 28
WHEREAS, Wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba emerged as one of the 29
National Football League's premier offensive players, earning AP 30
Offensive Player of the Year honors and breaking multiple Seahawks' 31
records, including DK Metcalf's single-season receiving yards record 32
and Steve Largent's record for most 100-yard receiving games in a 33
season, and serving as a consistent and decisive playmaker throughout 34
the regular season and playoffs; and 35
WHEREAS, The Seahawks' success was anchored by the league's best 36
defense that included Pro Bowlers DeMarcus Lawrence, Leonard 37
Williams, and Devon Witherspoon and amplified by some of the league's 38
best special teams units that included Pro Bowler Rashid Shaheed and 39

punter Michael Dickson, who landed three punts inside the 10-yard 1
line during Super Bowl LX; and 2
WHEREAS, Owner Jody Allen, General Manager John Schneider, and 3
the entire Seahawks front office provided exceptional leadership, 4
professionalism, and vision by hiring a coaching staff and building a 5
team that blended veteran experience with emerging talent and enabled 6
Head Coach Mike Macdonald's "People-First," "Mission Over BS" locker 7
room culture to be built on the core principles of brotherhood, 8
truth, work, and physicality that translated directly into on-field 9
success; and 10
WHEREAS, The Seahawks' championship season elevates Washington's 11
national and international profile and underscores the importance of 12
Coach Macdonald's emphasis on consistency, standards, faith, purpose, 13
authenticity, accountability, and continuous growth values that 14
extend beyond athletics and serve as enduring examples for 15
individuals, families, and institutions across the state; and16
WHEREAS, The Seahawks' Super Bowl victory represents not only a 17
crowning achievement for the franchise, but also a shared moment of 18
pride and unity for Washingtonians of every political persuasion and 19
all walks of life from every corner of our great state; and it 20
inspires our young people to pursue physical fitness, teamwork, 21
discipline and healthy competition, reinforcing habits that 22
contribute to lifelong well-being and professional and personal 23
success; 24
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives 25
honor and commend the Seattle Seahawks organization for winning Super 26
Bowl LX and for an extraordinary season defined by excellence, 27
perseverance, and teamwork; and 28
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives 29
recognize the players, coaches, and staff of the Seattle Seahawks for 30
their individual and collective contributions to this historic 31
achievement; and 32
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 33
transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives to the 34
Seattle Seahawks organization to convey the congratulations and 35
appreciation of the House of Representatives. 36
