WHEREAS, The people of Washington State share a rich cultural 1
history and a strong bond with our global neighbors in the State of 2
Israel and the more than 75,000 Israeli Americans living and working 3
in Washington State; and 4
WHEREAS, the Government of the State of Israel demonstrated its 5
commitment to enhancing its relationship with the people of 6
Washington State by establishing a Consulate General of Israel to the 7
Pacific Northwest, based in San Francisco, to strengthen bilateral 8
ties with Alaska, Northern California, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and 9
Washington; and 10
WHEREAS, The Consulate General of Israel provides consular 11
services to Israeli Americans and visitors to the Pacific Northwest 12
and works to foster fruitful cultural exchanges and promote mutual 13
economic development opportunities and innovation, particularly in 14
areas of technology, climate action, agriculture, biotechnology, and 15
cybersecurity; and 16
WHEREAS, Ambassador Marco Sermoneta has served as Consul General 17
of Israel to the Pacific Northwest since 2022, and has visited 18
Washington State in his official capacity on six occasions, meeting 19
with political leaders, business leaders, members of the Jewish 20
community, and Israeli Americans residing in Washington State; and21
HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2026-4709 , by Representatives Burnett, Ley, Walsh,
Schmick, Abell, Dye, Pollet, Ybarra, Connors, Griffey, Barnard, Steele, and Stuebe

WHEREAS, The continuous involvement between the people of 1
Washington State and the State of Israel promotes shared values and 2
intercultural connections that benefit the residents of both;3
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives 4
express appreciation for the work of the Consul General of Israel to 5
the Pacific Northwest, which mutually benefits the people of 6
Washington State and the State of Israel. 7
