WHEREAS, Representative Steve Tharinger was elected to the House 1
of Representatives in 2010 representing the 24th Legislative 2
District; and 3
WHEREAS, He received his political science degree from Colorado 4
College after growing up in the Twin Cities in Minnesota; and5
WHEREAS, Representative Tharinger started his career as a 6
contractor building houses, and later became a small business owner; 7
and 8
WHEREAS, He was elected as the Clallam County Commissioner in 9
1999 and pursued his passions by serving on many local boards and 10
commissions; and 11
WHEREAS, He championed environmental efforts to protect 12
Washington waterways and native salmon; and 13
WHEREAS, Representative Tharinger was the chair of the House 14
Capital Budget Committee for 12 years, where he worked tirelessly to 15
craft the Washington state capital budgets with record investments in 16
school construction and housing along with funding for colleges, 17
universities, state parks, and local infrastructure that will serve 18
us for generations; and 19
WHEREAS, He also sat on the Health Care and Wellness and 20
Appropriations Committees, advocating for legislation and programs to 21
improve health care throughout the state of Washington; and22

WHEREAS, Representative Tharinger is known by his legislative 1
