AN ACT Relating to the establishment of legal education programs 1
at community and technical colleges; and adding new sections to 2
chapter 28B.50 RCW. 3
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:4
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 28B.50 5
RCW to read as follows: 6
Subject to appropriations, Columbia Basin College, Yakima Valley 7
College, and Walla Walla College must each offer a prelaw associate's 8
degree program. 9
NEW SECTION. Sec. 2. A new section is added to chapter 28B.50 10
RCW to read as follows: 11
Subject to the amount appropriated for this specific purpose, the 12
college board shall develop a program to incentivize, encourage, and 13
financially support any board of trustees within the system of 14
community and technical colleges to initially establish and offer 15
paralegal education programs approved by the American bar 16
association, to be located in regional areas of the state east of the 17
crest of the Cascade mountains where they are not currently offered, 18
with the goal of establishing one new paralegal education program in 19
central Washington and one new paralegal education program in eastern 20
