AN ACT Relating to requiring school districts of the first class 1
to employ a school nurse; and amending RCW 28A.210.300.2
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:3
Sec. 1. RCW 28A.210.300 and 1975 c 43 s 20 are each amended to 4
read as follows: 5
(1) The board of directors of any school district of the second 6
class, as provided in RCW 28A.300.065, may employ a regularly 7
licensed physician ((or a licensed public health nurse )), a 8
registered nurse, or an advanced registered nurse practitioner for 9
the purpose of protecting the health of the ((children)) students in 10
said district. 11
(2)(a) The board of directors of any school district of the first 12
class, as provided in RCW 28A.300.065, must employ a school nurse for 13
the purpose of protecting the health of the students in said 14
district.15
(b) For the purposes of this subsection, "school nurse" means a 16
registered nurse or an advanced registered nurse practitioner who 17
holds a valid educational staff associate certificate for school 18
nurses.19
