AN ACT Relating to developing best practices for responding to 1
electric vehicle fires; and creating a new section.2
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:3
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. (1) The Washington state patrol, in 4
consultation with the department of ecology, local fire protection 5
districts, the towing and recovery industry, and other entities, must 6
develop best practices for multidiscipline responses and training for 7
response to electric vehicle fires. At minimum, these best practices 8
must provide guidance related to: 9
(a) The response from law enforcement, fire agencies, and other 10
first responders to electric vehicles involved in a collision or 11
fire; and 12
(b) Transporting, towing, and storing electric vehicles involved 13
in a collision or fire. 14
(2) The Washington state patrol, through the director of fire 15
protection, must develop best practice checklists to promote 16
interagency coordination during responses to electric vehicle fires. 17
The checklists must, at minimum, outline the best practices developed 18
