AN ACT Relating to names to be included on the Washington state 1
law enforcement memorial; and adding a new section to chapter 79.24 2
RCW. 3
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:4
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 79.24 5
RCW to read as follows: 6
Washington state law enforcement officers ruled as dying in the 7
line of duty under the hometown heroes survivors benefits act of 8
2003, as determined by the United States department of justice, shall 9
be included on the Washington state law enforcement memorial.10
(1) This section applies retroactively for five years to include 11
Washington state law enforcement officers who died in the line of 12
duty on or after January 1, 2020. 13
(2) Once a determination is made pursuant to the hometown heroes 14
survivors benefits act of 2003, the officer's name shall be added to 15
the Washington state law enforcement memorial at the first wall 16
update following the determination. 17
