AN ACT Relating to the issuance of confidential identification to 1
investigators employed by the office of the attorney general; and 2
adding a new section to chapter 46.08 RCW. 3
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:4
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 46.08 5
RCW to read as follows: 6
(1)(a) The department may issue confidential drivers' licenses 7
and identicards to investigators employed by the office of the 8
attorney general only for undercover or covert civil or criminal law 9
enforcement activities. 10
(b) Any driver's license or identicard issued under this 11
subsection must display an expiration date that complies with the 12
department's rules, but a driver's license or identicard issued under 13
this subsection may be used only during the duration of the officer's 14
assignment to an undercover or covert operation. 15
(2) The director may adopt rules governing applications for, and 16
the use of, confidential license plates, drivers' licenses, and 17
identicards. 18
