AN ACT Relating to limiting supplemental benefits for public 1
employee leave while on paid family medical leave; adding a new 2
section to chapter 41.04 RCW; and providing an effective date.3
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:4
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 41.04 5
RCW to read as follows: 6
Employees of the state and local political subdivisions may use 7
accrued paid leave as a supplemental benefit when on approved paid 8
family and medical leave under Title 50A RCW. The sum of an 9
employee's family or medical benefit and the employee's supplemental 10
benefit may not exceed that employee's salary or average hourly rate. 11
Leave paid as a supplemental benefit may not be included in the 12
weekly claim submitted to the employment security department.13
NEW SECTION. Sec. 2. This act takes effect July 1, 2027.14
