AN ACT Relating to agriculture practices in unincorporated areas 1
where wildfire danger is present and encouraging fire districts and 2
insurance providers to develop voluntary incentives to promote best 3
practices; and adding a new section to chapter 48.18 RCW.4
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:5
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 48.18 6
RCW to read as follows: 7
(1) Fire districts and insurance providers should collaborate to 8
develop incentives that promote wildfire mitigation best practices 9
related to agricultural activities. Any incentive developed through 10
such collaboration should be optional for insurance providers to 11
offer and voluntary for policyholders to accept. 12
(2) Incentives may relate to best practices for either holders of 13
crop insurance or fire insurance, or both. Best practices may 14
include, but are not limited to: 15
(a) Installation and maintenance of defensible space or fire 16
breaks; 17
(b) Proper equipment storage; 18
(c) Installation and maintenance of water tanks;19
