WHEREAS, The Washington State Patrol has served the people of 1
Washington State since 1921, continually ensuring public safety 2
through its dedicated law enforcement officers and specialized units; 3
and 4
WHEREAS, Washington State Troopers demonstrate remarkable bravery 5
in high-risk situations, as exemplified when Trooper Nathan Donwen 6
recently used his patrol SUV to stop a wrong-way driver on I-90 near 7
Sammamish, preventing a potentially catastrophic crash and 8
demonstrating the life-saving actions of Washington's finest; and9
WHEREAS, With over 2,200 employees, including 43 canine officers, 10
and a fleet of more than 1,600 vehicles, the Washington State Patrol 11
protects over 18,000 lane miles of Washington's roadways daily, 12
ensuring the safety of commuters, travelers, and all citizens; and13
WHEREAS, The troopers and staff of the Washington State Patrol 14
are known for their professionalism, selflessness, and courageous 15
service, which exemplify the highest standards of law enforcement and 16
public service; and 17
WHEREAS, The Washington State Patrol's service extends beyond 18
traffic enforcement, to include roles in homeland security, emergency 19
response, cybercrime investigation, and public safety across our 20
state; 21
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State Senate 22
honor the Washington State Patrol, its troopers, and all supporting 23
SENATE RESOLUTION
