WHEREAS, It is the policy of the Washington State Legislature to 1
recognize and honor excellence in all fields and endeavors; and2
WHEREAS, The Apple Blossom Festival started in 1920 and is the 3
oldest major festival in Washington; it attracts over 100,000 people 4
over 11 days to the Wenatchee area; and 5
WHEREAS, The Festival's mission is to provide an annual 6
family-oriented event that celebrates and showcases the people, 7
heritage, and fruit industry in that community; and8
WHEREAS, Each year three young women are chosen as a queen and 9
two princesses to represent the Apple Blossom Festival in their royal 10
court; and 11
WHEREAS, Ella Johnson was selected as queen, and Daeja Carlson 12
and Yasmin Perez were selected as princesses; and 13
WHEREAS, Ella Johnson attends The River Academy, where she serves 14
as House Leader. She leads a middle school girls Bible study and 15
helps with middle school girls volleyball. She is a varsity athlete 16
at Wenatchee High School for golf, participates in Unified 17
Basketball, and played high school and club volleyball for three 18
years. After graduation, she plans to attend Point Loma Nazarene 19
University to double major in history and economics, in preparation 20
for law school. However, she is most excited about one day becoming a 21
mom. She also desires to represent the Wenatchee Valley and the Apple 22
Blossom Festival by way of her servant's heart, her involvement and 23

deep love for the Valley's special community, and the compassion 1
of Christ she pours out to others; and 2
WHEREAS, Daeja Carlson attends Wenatchee High School, but 3
also Wenatchee Valley College through Running Start and is an 4
active member of her church. She is the president of her 5
Distributive Education Clubs of America, the section editor for 6
the Wenatchee High School newspaper, and she participates in 7
various clubs including the Technology Student Association, 8
English Honors Society, and People's First Club. She plans to 9
attend San Diego State University to get her Doctoral Degree in 10
neuroscience, with a double major in business, hoping to have a 11
private practice as a sports neuropsychologist. She also desires 12
to represent the Wenatchee Valley as a role model for other 13
young girls in the Valley, as an encouragement for younger 14
generations, and as an uplifting Wenatchee Valley citizen; and15
WHEREAS, Yasmin Perez attends Eastmont High School, and 16
Wenatchee Valley College through Running Start, where she is on 17
the Dean's List, demonstrating her dedication, hard work, and 18
commitment to academic excellence. She plays soccer and other 19
sports with her siblings, and she plays the guitar. She job 20
shadows at a dental office, to learn more about health care, and 21
after graduation she plans to pursue a career in the medical 22
field to help care and provide for others who may not be aware 23
how to access proper care. She also desires to represent the 24
Wenatchee Valley as the first in her family to pursue a college 25
education while still in high school, and as an encouragement to 26
others to persevere knowing that anything is possible;27
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Senate honor and 28
recognize the 2025 Apple Blossom Festival Royal Court for their 29
excellent achievements in their studies, acts of service, 30
sports, hobbies, and other pursuits; and 31
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 32
immediately transmitted by the Secretary of the Senate to Queen 33
Ella Johnson, Princess Daeja Carlson, Princess Yasmin Perez, and 34
to the organizers of the Apple Blossom Festival. 35
