WHEREAS, More than 8,000 men and women of the National Guard 1
continue to serve the country as guardians of American interest at 2
home and abroad; and 3
WHEREAS, These recognized leaders in state, regional, and 4
national preparedness, who reside in nearly every legislative 5
district throughout Washington, volunteer their time and put their 6
personal lives aside for the needs of the people of Washington state; 7
and 8
WHEREAS, The Guard always answers the state's call in response to 9
all emergency efforts, such as natural disasters, to protect lives, 10
essential infrastructure, and property; and 11
WHEREAS, In 2025, the Guard deployed to Skagit, Snohomish, and 12
King counties to provide support to communities experiencing rising 13
waters such as Snohomish, Burlington, and Mount Vernon, working with 14
crews to fix breaks in levees near Tukwila and Pacific, and rescued 15
civilians in Auburn and Fox Island from flooded roads; and16
WHEREAS, The Guard continues to support the Secretary of State to 17
ensure national, state, and local elections are protected from cyber 18
threats;and 19
WHEREAS, The Western Regional Counterdrug Training Center 20
provides training to law enforcement agencies and community-based 21
organizations to disrupt, degrade, and defeat drug trafficking and 22

transnational criminal organizations that threaten our 1
communities; and 2
WHEREAS, The Guard continues to improve the lives of 3
Washington's young adults, especially at-risk youth, through its 4
Washington Youth Challenge Academy; and 5
WHEREAS, The Guard adds value to communities by opening its 6
readiness centers for community youth activities, and uses these 7
facilities to enhance education, add to the quality of life, and 8
increase economic vitality; 9
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State 10
Senate express its thanks and appreciation to the devoted 11
families and dedicated employers of our Washington National 12
Guard soldiers and airmen for their support, without whom the 13
Guard's missions could not be successful; and 14
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the value 15
and dedication of a strong Washington National Guard to the 16
viability, economy, safety, security, and well-being of this 17
state, both through the outstanding performance of its state 18
emergency and disaster relief mission, and the continued benefit 19
to local communities; and 20
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 21
immediately transmitted by the Secretary of the Senate to the 22
Adjutant General of the Washington National Guard, the Governor 23
of the state of Washington, the Secretaries of the United States 24
Army and Air Force, and the President of the United States.25
