WHEREAS, Tara-Marysa Guting was born July 19, 1996, in Honolulu, 1
Hawaii and graduated from Mililani High School in Mililani, Hawaii; 2
and 3
WHEREAS, Tara-Marysa Guting served our country honorably in the 4
Army National Guard from October 22, 2014, to October 21, 2022, as a 5
Signal Intelligence Analyst; and 6
WHEREAS, Tara-Marysa Guting was commissioned on October 30, 2024, 7
with the 119th Trooper Basic Training Class as a Washington State 8
Patrol Trooper and assigned to Tacoma; and 9
WHEREAS, Trooper Tara-Marysa Guting became a strong and vital 10
link between the work of the Washington State Patrol and the 11
community she served; and 12
WHEREAS, Trooper Tara-Marysa Guting fully embodied the Washington 13
State Patrol's motto of "Service with Humility" by performing her 14
duties professionally with a positive attitude, a ubiquitous smile, 15
and a sense of respect for the community she served; and16
WHEREAS, Trooper Tara-Marysa Guting honored Washington State 17
Patrol Badge #720 on her chest and on her patrol car license plate 18
through her time of selfless and courageous service; and19
WHEREAS, Trooper Tara-Marysa Guting was tragically killed in the 20
line of duty on December 19, 2025, after serving nearly 2 years with 21
the Washington State Patrol; and 22

WHEREAS, Trooper Tara-Marysa Guting will be missed dearly by 1
her brothers and sisters in the State Patrol family and law 2
enforcement, and her spirit of service will continue through the 3
lives she impacted as well as those she touched throughout the 4
community; and 5
WHEREAS, Trooper Tara-Marysa Guting was not only a loving 6
daughter and sister but also a devoted wife to her husband Tim 7
for more than 6 years; 8
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State 9
Senate express its deepest condolences to the family, friends, 10
colleagues, and community that have lost Trooper Tara-Marysa 11
Guting; and 12
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Senate join the people of 13
the State of Washington in commending, saluting, and honoring 14
Trooper Tara-Marysa Guting for her exemplary and exceptional 15
service; and 16
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Senate express profound 17
appreciation and enduring gratitude to the brave men and women 18
that protect our state every day as members of the Washington 19
State Patrol; and 20
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 21
immediately transmitted by the Secretary of the Senate to the 22
surviving family members of Trooper Tara-Marysa Guting, 23
Washington State Patrol Chief John R. Batiste, and Washington 24
State Patrol Tacoma District 1 Commander John J. Gundermann.25
