WHEREAS, The Seattle Seahawks, founded in 1976, have proudly 1
represented the state of Washington and the Pacific Northwest in the 2
National Football League for 50 seasons, having won 12 division 3
titles, three conference championships, and Super Bowl 48, becoming a 4
fixture on the field and in the community; and 5
WHEREAS, During the 2025 regular season, the Seattle Seahawks 6
delivered one of the most successful campaigns in franchise history, 7
finishing with a 14–3 record, winning the National Football 8
Conference West Division, and securing the Number 1 seed in the 9
National Football Conference playoffs; and 10
WHEREAS, The Seahawks' National Football Conference West Division 11
championship marked the team's first division title since 2020 and 12
reflected improvement from the previous season, when the Seahawks 13
finished with a 10–7 record and narrowly missed qualifying for the 14
playoffs; and 15
WHEREAS, The Seahawks' 14 regular season victories represent the 16
most wins in team history, surpassing previous 13–3 seasons in 2005 17
and 2013, both of which culminated in Super Bowl appearances, 18
including a Super Bowl championship following the 2013 season; and19
WHEREAS, The Seahawks' offense ranked among the most productive 20
in the National Football League during the 2025 season, scoring 483 21
total points, the third-highest total in the league; and22

WHEREAS, The Seahawks' defense delivered a dominant 1
performance throughout the season, allowing only 292 points, the 2
fewest in the National Football League, and permitting an 3
average of just 3.7 yards per rushing attempt, the lowest mark 4
in the league; and 5
WHEREAS, Quarterback Sam Darnold, in his first season with 6
the Seattle Seahawks, passed for more than 4,000 yards and threw 7
25 touchdown passes, providing leadership and consistent 8
performance at the game's most critical position; and9
WHEREAS, Wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba recorded 119 10
receptions for a league-leading 1,793 receiving yards, was 11
second in the National Football League with 79 catches resulting 12
in first downs, and added 10 touchdown receptions, establishing 13
himself as one of the league's premier playmakers; and14
WHEREAS, The Seahawks' rushing attack was led by Kenneth 15
Walker III, who rushed for 1,027 yards and averaged 4.6 yards 16
per carry, and Zach Charbonnet, who added 730 rushing yards and 17
led the team with 12 rushing touchdowns; and 18
WHEREAS, Six members of the Seattle Seahawks were selected 19
to the Pro Bowl in recognition of their outstanding individual 20
achievements: Quarterback Sam Darnold, wide receiver Jaxon 21
Smith-Njigba, defensive lineman Leonard Williams, linebacker 22
DeMarcus Lawrence, defensive back Devon Witherspoon, and kick 23
returner Rashid Shaheed; and 24
WHEREAS, During the 2025 National Football League 25
postseason, the Seattle Seahawks delivered a dominant 26
performance in the National Football Conference Divisional Round 27
on January 17, 2026, defeating the San Francisco 49ers 41–6 at 28
Lumen Field, followed by a thrilling 31–27 victory over the Los 29
Angeles Rams in the National Football Conference Championship 30
Game on January 25, 2026, also at Lumen Field, to secure the 31
National Football Conference championship and advance to Super 32
Bowl 60; and 33
WHEREAS, In Super Bowl 60, played on February 8, 2026, at 34
Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, the Seattle Seahawks 35
defeated the New England Patriots by a score of 29–13, capturing 36
the National Football League championship; and 37

WHEREAS, The Seahawks' Kenneth Walker III was named the Most 1
Valuable Player of Super Bowl 60 in recognition of an 2
exceptional performance that exemplified excellence, leadership, 3
and competitive spirit on the sport's biggest stage; and4
WHEREAS, Wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba was named the 2025 5
Associated Press National Football League Offensive Player of 6
the Year at the National Football League Honors ceremony, 7
recognizing his outstanding performance during the regular 8
season and his contributions to the Seahawks' historic campaign; 9
and 10
WHEREAS, The Seattle Seahawks' defense, known as the "Dark 11
Side," delivered a dominant and disciplined performance in Super 12
Bowl 60 shutting out the New England Patriots for the first 13
three quarters of the game, applying relentless pressure, 14
limiting offensive production, and demonstrating exceptional 15
coordination, preparation, and execution under the leadership of 16
Head Coach Mike MacDonald, playing a decisive role in securing 17
the National Football League championship; and 18
WHEREAS, The success of the 2025 Seattle Seahawks reflects 19
the dedication, discipline, and leadership of the players, 20
coaches, ownership, and staff, as well as the unwavering support 21
of the team's passionate fan base, known as the "12s"; and22
WHEREAS, Beyond their on-field accomplishments, the Seattle 23
Seahawks organization has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to 24
community service, charitable initiatives, and youth engagement 25
programs that strengthen communities throughout Washington 26
state; and 27
WHEREAS, The historic 2025 season exemplifies the values of 28
hard work, teamwork, resilience, and unity that reflect the 29
spirit and character of the people of the state of Washington;30
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington state 31
Senate congratulate the Seattle Seahawks on their historic 2025 32
regular season, National Football Conference West Division 33
championship, and National Football League championship, and 34
commend the organization for its excellence, leadership, and 35
positive impact on the state of Washington; and 36
