WHEREAS, For 93 years the annual Daffodil Festival has been a 1
cherished tradition for the people of Pierce county; and2
WHEREAS, The Daffodil Festival has been an anticipated event that 3
continues to bring communities together to celebrate unity within our 4
diverse community; and 5
WHEREAS, Since its inception in the 1920s as a modest garden 6
party, it has grown into the festival that we all know and love today 7
and this year celebrates its 93rd anniversary; and 8
WHEREAS, Each year, 24 young women pass through a rigorous 9
selection process to represent their schools as well as Pierce county 10
communities through ambassadorship, community service, and civic 11
pride; and 12
WHEREAS, Members of the Daffodil Festival royal court serve as 13
role models for youth around our region. Their volunteerism, civic 14
responsibility, and willingness to be ambassadors for Pierce county 15
serve as a light for youth to look up to; and 16
WHEREAS, This year's Daffodil Festival royal court includes: Mya 17
Fleming, Bethel High School; Shaniah Princess Andal, Bonney Lake High 18
School; Nicia Sikkenga, Chief Leschi High School; Kareliz N 19
Villanueva Lomba, Clover Park High School; Gabriella Lopez, Curtis 20
High School; Annika Howard, Eatonville High School; Ava Gardner, 21

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 14
immediately transmitted by the Secretary of the Senate to the 2026 15
Daffodil Festival officers and to the 24 members of the 2026 Daffodil 16
Festival royalty. 17
