Red = new code to be enacted WEST VIRGINIA LEGISLATURE 2026 REGULAR SESSION Introduced Senate Bill 1067 By Senator Hamilton [Introduced February 23, 2026; referred to the Committee on Education] A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding a new section, designated §18-3-14, relating to creating an extended child care program for parents of elementary children, supervised by adults and paid for by parents of children in the schools. Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia: ARTICLE 3. STATE SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS. §18-3-14. Extended daycare program for parents of elementary schools. The state superintendent shall establish an Extended Daycare program for parents of elementary children to be held on the elementary campuses of schools. The program hours shall be from the end of the school day until 6:00 p.m. The program shall provide for supervision of the students by adults who are paid for by the parents who have children in these schools. NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to create an extended childcare program for elementary schools, supervised by adults who are paid by parents of the children.
