An Act

to create
84.1011 of the statutes;
relating to:
designating and

marking memorial highways for state troopers.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill requires the Department of Transportation, upon receipt of sufficient contributions from interested parties, to designate and mark the following routes as memorial highways:
1. The route of STH 23 between Princeton Road and Thrasher Drive near the city of Green Lake, in honor and recognition of State Trooper Donald C. Pederson.
2. The route of STH 59 between South 164th Street and South Elm Grove Road in the city of New Berlin, in honor and recognition of State Trooper Gary G. Powless.
3. The route of I 94 between mile post 75 and mile post 76 south of the city of Eau Claire, in honor and recognition of State Trooper Debbie M. McMenamin.
4. The route of I 94 between mile post 82 and mile post 83 north of the city of Osseo, in honor and recognition of State Trooper Willie Schoenberger.
5. The route of STH 46 between 45th Avenue and 85th Avenue near the city of Amery, in honor and recognition of State Trooper Jorge Dimas.
6. The route of STH 67 between County Line Road and Fish and Game Road near the city of Kiel, in honor and recognition of State Trooper Trevor J. Casper.
7. The route of I 90 between mile post 89 and mile post 90 near the village of Lake Delton, in honor and recognition of State Trooper Anthony J. Borostowski.
8. The route of STH 54 between 48th Street North and County Line Road near the city of Wisconsin Rapids, in honor and recognition of State Trooper Daniel Stainbrook.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

State Trooper Memorial Highways.

(1)
Department to mark

routes.

The department shall erect and maintain markers to memorialize state
4
troopers identified in this section. For each marker specified in subs. (2) to (9), the
5
department shall erect the marker upon receipt of sufficient contributions from
6
interested parties, including any county, city, village, or town, to cover the costs of
7
erecting and maintaining the marker along the specified route. No state funds,
8
other than from the receipt of contributions under this section, may be expended for
9
the erection or maintenance of the markers.
