An Act
to create
20.255 (2) (bk) and 115.375 of the statutes;
relating to:

grants for school district construction of or upgrades to accessible playgrounds

and making an appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under this bill, the Department of Public Instruction must establish a grant program to award grants to school districts that construct playgrounds that are accessible to pupils with disabilities or upgrade playgrounds to make them accessible to pupils with disabilities. Each grant to a school district may not exceed the amount the school district expended in constructing or upgrading a playground. The bill provides $1,000,000 to DPI in each of fiscal years 2025-26 and 2026-27 for the grants.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

From the appropriation

under s. 20.255 (2) (bk), the department shall establish a grant program to award
11
grants to school districts that construct a playground that is accessible to pupils
12
with disabilities or upgrade a playground to make it accessible to pupils with
13
disabilities. The department may not award a grant under this section to a school
14
district in an amount that exceeds the amount the school district expended in the
15
construction or upgrade of a playground.
