Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the Department of Justice must provide on its website a poster that provides information regarding a human trafficking resource center hotline and must allow entities to download the poster free of charge. Current law also requires DOJ to encourage that the poster be displayed at all of the following places: certain gas stations; hotels; adult entertainment establishments; salons; places at which employers engage employees to perform agricultural labor; hospitals or other medical centers; places at which athletic or sporting events occur; establishments that operate as a massage parlor or spa, alternative health clinic, or similar entity; various expositions; courthouses; Department of Transportation rest areas; and public and private transit stations.
This bill adds the following to the list of places that must be encouraged to display the poster: lodging establishments, premises that serve alcoholic beverages, tattoo establishments, job recruitment centers, community-based residential facilities, and public and private elementary and secondary schools.
