An Act
to amend
118.40 (2r) (e) 2p. a.;
to create
20.255 (2) (dq) and 115.449 of

the statutes;
relating to:
a grant program to support parent and guardian

volunteer programs in schools, granting rule-making authority, and making
4
an appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under this bill, the Department of Public Instruction must develop and implement a grant program, under which it awards grants to school districts, independent charter schools, and private schools participating in a parental choice program for the purpose of creating or supporting parent and guardian volunteer programs. The bill requires DPI to begin awarding these grants in the 2026-27 school year.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

department shall develop and implement a program to award grants to school

boards, governing boards of charter schools established under s. 118.40 (2r) or (2x),

and governing bodies of private schools participating in a program under s. 118.60

or 119.23 to create or support programs that allow or encourage parents and
16
guardians to volunteer in elementary and secondary schools.

The department shall award grants under this section beginning in the

by the secretary of administration, of the appropriation under s. 20.505 (4) (s)

allocated for payments to telecommunications providers under contracts with

school districts and cooperative educational service agencies under s. 16.971 (13).
