An Act
relating to:
funding for the Family Foundations home visitation
2
program for social media education and making an appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill provides an increase in general purpose revenue to the Department of Children and Families to increase parental education on social media and its effects on children and parental education on healthy practices related to social media use under the Family Foundations home visitation program. Under current law, DCF distributes grants for the prevention of child abuse and neglect under a program commonly referred to as “Family Foundations.” Under the Family Foundations program, certain entities are eligible for grants to provide home visitation services for parents who are eligible for Medical Assistance and who are assessed to be at risk of poor birth outcomes or of abusing or neglecting their child.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as an appendix to this bill.

In the schedule under s. 20.005 (3) for the

appropriation to the department of children and families under s. 20.437 (1) (ab),

the dollar amount for fiscal year 2026-27 is increased by $500,000 to increase

parental education on social media and its effects on children and parental
4
education on healthy practices related to social media use under the home visitation
5
program under s. 48.983.
