AJR37,1,2
1
Relating to:
declaring May 2025 as Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes and Hypermobility
2
Spectrum Disorders Awareness Month.
AJR37,1,6
3
Whereas, Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) are a group of 13 inherited
4
connective tissue disorders that together affect 1 in 5,000 people. Each type of EDS
5

AJR37,1,9
7
Whereas, hypermobility spectrum disorders (HSD) are inherited connective

2
require multiple providers in different specialties to manage their care; and
AJR37,2,6
3
Whereas, access to professionals who are knowledgeable about EDS and HSD
4
is limited in Wisconsin. Lack of awareness about EDS and HSD in Wisconsin and
5
across the world stands in the way of the diagnosis, management, and research of
6
these conditions; and
AJR37,2,9
7
Whereas, awareness of EDS and HSD by both medical professionals and the
8
general public can help improve the lives of people living with EDS and HSD in
9
Wisconsin; now, therefore, be it
AJR37,2,12
