1
Relating to:
designating June 2025 as Myasthenia Gravis Awareness Month.
AJR64,1,4
2
Whereas, myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune neuromuscular disease
3
that causes chronic weakness, in which antibodies attack receptors in the body and

5
Whereas, MG frequently weakens muscles that control eye movement, facial

impairment, difficulty chewing, shortness of breath, an unstable gait, and a
8
weakened grip; and
AJR64,1,10
9
Whereas, a diagnosis of MG may be missed or delayed because it shares
10
symptoms in common with many other disorders; and
AJR64,1,14
11
Whereas, in some cases, MG symptoms can worsen to the point of disability,

14
lives of normal longevity; and
AJR64,2,2
1
Whereas, MG is found most commonly in adult women under 40 and men over
2
60 but is not specific to either gender or any particular ethnic background; and

3
Whereas, MG is nonhereditary and noncontagious; and
AJR64,2,5
4
Whereas, 10 to 20 out of every 100,000 Americans are diagnosed with MG,
5
and support groups exist in Wisconsin for those people; and
AJR64,2,8
6
Whereas, MG Awareness Month is observed every year in June across the
7
United States, which allows people from the MG community to come together and
8
raise awareness about MG; now, therefore, be it
AJR64,2,10
