Whereas, thousands of new ALS cases are reported every year; and
AJR80,1,9
8
Whereas, every 90 minutes, someone is diagnosed with ALS and someone

passes away from ALS; and
AJR80,1,11
10
Whereas, patients diagnosed with ALS survive on average only two to five
11
years from the time of diagnosis; and

AJR80,2,7
5
Whereas, clinical trials play a pivotal role in evaluating new treatments,
6
enhancing quality of life, and fostering assistive technologies for those living with
7
ALS; and
AJR80,2,10
8
Whereas, philanthropic organizations provide funds that allow for global
9
research of ALS and support specific research projects across the United States and
10
other countries; and
AJR80,2,13
11
Whereas, philanthropic organizations are committed to accelerating the pace
12
of discovery, fueled by the hope that one day ALS will be a livable disease for
13
everyone, everywhere, until a cure can be found; now, therefore, be it
