Whereas, domestic violence is a serious public health and safety issue that

impacts individuals and families in every community across Wisconsin; and

Whereas, every year numerous lives are tragically lost to domestic violence in

Wisconsin, underscoring the urgent and ongoing need for awareness, prevention,
7
and intervention efforts; and

Whereas, survivors and their children depend each year on lifesaving services
9
in Wisconsin, including emergency shelter, legal assistance, counseling, and
10
advocacy, to escape abuse and begin the process of rebuilding their lives; and

Whereas, Domestic Violence Awareness Month provides a meaningful
12
opportunity to honor those whose lives have been lost, to stand with survivors, to
13
recognize the commitment of advocates and service providers, and to recommit as a
14
state to the goal of ending domestic violence in all its forms; now, therefore, be it
