Whereas, there are nearly 6 million grocery store employees in the United

States; and

Whereas, in Wisconsin, there are 94,000 grocery store, convenience store, and

food-related retail jobs that provide $2.8 billion in payroll and generate $6.3 billion

in economic activity; and

Whereas, grocery, convenience, and food retail employees provide all

Americans with access to safe, healthy, and affordable food; and

Whereas, grocery, convenience, and food retail employees work to enhance the

health and well-being of each customer; and

Whereas, grocery, convenience, and food retail employees contribute and

volunteer countless hours in their communities; and

Whereas, grocery, convenience, and food retail employees have faced

unprecedented challenges the last three years keeping retail shelves stocked; and

Whereas, grocery, convenience, and food retail employees have and continue to

meet and exceed these challenges, while displaying courage, compassion,

dedication, and leadership, as well as exemplifying customer service and

community outreach; and

Whereas, the need for grocery, convenience, and food retail employees is

greater than ever because of current and growing consumer demands as well as
9
their reputation for excellence; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the
assembly
, That
the Wisconsin Assembly hereby proclaims

our appreciation and respect for our Grocery and Retail Food Employees and asks
12
all citizens to join in honoring our Grocery Store Heroes.
