grants.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill adds a funding priority for the minority health program through which the Department of Health Services annually awards grants to organizations for activities to improve the health status of economically disadvantaged minority group members. Under current law, DHS awards grants of up to $50,000 per year per applicant and requires that applicants that are not federally qualified health centers receive priority for grants. This bill requires that applicants providing maternal and child health services also receive priority for these grants.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:
SB1002,1
3
Section
1
.
250.20 (3) of the statutes is amended to read:

the manner specified by the department, for a grant of up to $50,000 in each fiscal
2
year to conduct these activities. An awardee of a grant under this subsection shall
3
provide, for at least 50 percent of the grant amount, matching funds that may
4
consist of funding or an in-kind contribution. An applicant that is not a federally
5
qualified health center, as defined under
42 CFR 405.2401 (b

6
