25.40 (1) (a) 39., 341.08 (2) (g) and
2
341.37 of the statutes;
relating to:
state parks vehicle admission receipts
3
purchased with motor vehicle registration.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, vehicles entering state parks or Department of Natural Resources recreational sites are required to display an annual or daily admission receipt (commonly known as a “park sticker”). The fee for an annual park sticker for a vehicle with Wisconsin registration plates is $27.50, and the fee for an additional park sticker for the same individual or members of their household is $15. An additional issuing fee of 50 cents is collected for each park sticker.
This bill requires the Department of Transportation to provide an applicant for original or renewal vehicle registration a way to indicate on the application that they wish to purchase an annual park sticker. For such applicants, DOT must collect the fees for the park sticker and deposit them quarterly in the conservation fund. On a weekly basis, DOT must provide DNR a list of applicants who purchased a park sticker and DNR must issue stickers to those applicants.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as an appendix to this bill.
