1
An Act

relating to:
requiring information relating to the food stamp program
2
to be compiled and provided to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill provides that, within six months after the bill becomes law, the Department of Health Services must compile and share with the federal Food and Nutrition Service of the Department of Agriculture all data required by the federal Department of Agriculture as set forth in that department’s letter to state agency directors dated July 23, 2025, regarding individuals who, since January 1, 2020, have received, are currently receiving, or have applied to receive benefits under the federal food stamp program. The food stamp program, known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and called FoodShare in this state, provides benefits to eligible low-income households for the purchase of food and is administered by DHS. Under current law, the federal government pays the benefits for the food stamp program while the state and federal governments share the cost of administration.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:
