An Act
to create
46.533 of the statutes;
relating to:
988 Suicide and Crisis

Lifeline grants.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill requires the Department of Health Services to award grants to organizations that provide crisis intervention services and crisis care coordination to individuals who contact the national 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline from anywhere within the state. Currently, DHS partners with Wisconsin Lifeline to provide statewide 988 crisis hotline services.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

Suicide and crisis lifeline; grants.
(1)
In this section, “national

crisis hotline” means the telephone or text access number “988,” or its successor,

that is maintained under the federally administered program under 42 USC 290bb-
2
36c.

The department shall award grants to organizations that provide crisis

intervention services and crisis care coordination to individuals who contact the

national crisis hotline from anywhere within this state.
