An Act
to create
20.255 (3) (cm) and 115.428 of the statutes;
relating to:

stipend payments for school social worker interns and making an

appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under this bill, the Department of Public Instruction must provide stipends to individuals who are 1) enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program leading to licensure as a school social worker and 2) placed as a school social worker intern in a public school governed by a school board.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

From the appropriation

under s. 20.255 (3) (cm), beginning in the 2026-27 school year, the department shall

provide payments to individuals who are all of the following:

Enrolled in an institution of higher education or an accredited graduate

school in a program of study leading to licensure as a school social worker.

Placed as a school social worker intern in a public school governed by a

This act takes effect on the day after publication, or on the 2nd day after

publication of the 2025 biennial budget act, whichever is later.
