An Act

to create
146.67 of the statutes;
relating to:
perimenopause and

menopause education.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill requires the Department of Health Services to enter into partnerships with health care providers, including obstetricians and gynecologists, and community health centers and hospitals to educate women on the symptoms, processes, and other issues surrounding perimenopause and menopause so that women may be prepared for perimenopause and menopause. The bill requires DHS to create, in coordination with these partners, informational materials, in electronic and physical form, that may be distributed to or accessed by women who are determined by their health care provider to be experiencing or will soon be experiencing perimenopause and menopause.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

Perimenopause and menopause education.

(1)
The department

shall do all of the following:

(a) Enter into partnerships with health care providers, including

obstetricians and gynecologists, and community health centers, as defined in s.

250.15 (1) (a), and hospitals to educate women on the symptoms, processes, and
6
other issues surrounding perimenopause and menopause so that women may be
7
prepared for perimenopause and menopause.

(b) Create informational materials, in coordination with the partners
9
described in par. (a), in electronic and physical form, that may be distributed to or
10
accessed by women who are determined by their health care provider to be
11
experiencing or will soon be experiencing perimenopause and menopause. The

informational materials shall include information regarding all of the following:

2. Symptoms of perimenopause and menopause for which a woman would

consult a health care provider.

3. The biological process behind perimenopause and menopause.
