to amend
97.67 (1); and
to create
97.67 (1k) of the statutes;
relating

exempting certain farm owners from campground licensing.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection must issue licenses to and regulate campgrounds, and a person may not manage or operate a campground without such a license. Under this bill, a person may operate a campground without a campground license if the campground is located on the person’s farm, the person’s farm has no more than one campground, and the campground has three or fewer campsites.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

(a) For the purpose of this subsection, “farm” means all land under

common ownership that is primarily devoted to agricultural production,
9
harvesting, or husbandry.

(b) A person may operate a campground without a campground license if the

campground is located on the person’s farm, the person’s farm has no more than one
12
campground, and the campground has 3 or fewer campsites.
