An Act

to create
100.10 of the statutes;
relating to:
requiring certain sales

invoices and sales receipts to include tariff costs.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill requires retailers to provide a sales invoice or sales receipt to a person purchasing a consumer good that clearly states the total cost of any tariff imposed on the sale of that consumer good. “Retailer” is defined in the bill to mean persons who, in the preceding calendar year, sold a total amount of consumer goods the gross value of which was $3,000,000 or more.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

(1)

Definitions.
In this section:

(a) “Consumer good” has the meaning given for “consumer goods or services”

in s. 100.305 (1) (a).

(b) “Retailer” means a person that, in the preceding calendar year, sold a total

amount of consumer goods the gross value of which was $3,000,000 or more.

(c) “Sales invoice” means a paper or electronic document that lists consumer

goods to be sold and the consumer goods’ prices.

(d) “Sales receipt” means a paper or electronic document that lists consumer

goods sold and the consumer goods’ prices at the time of sale.

Requirement.
(a) A retailer shall provide to a person purchasing a

consumer good a sales invoice or sales receipt that clearly states the total cost of any
9
tariff imposed on the sale of that consumer good.
