An Act

to amend
20.370 (1) (mu);
to create
29.063 (7) of the statutes;
relating

to:
deer carcass disposal sites, chronic wasting disease education, and making

an appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill requires the Department of Natural Resources to provide large metal containers where hunters may dispose of deer carcasses, to be placed in locations throughout the state as determined by DNR. The bill provides in the 2025-27 fiscal biennium $1,000,000 for the carcass disposal sites. The bill also provides in the 2025-27 fiscal biennium $500,000 for DNR to provide education to hunters about chronic wasting disease and the importance of proper carcass disposal.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

The amounts in

the schedule for general program operations that are conducted under ss. 23.09 to

23.11, 27.01, 30.203, 30.277, and 90.21, and chs. 29 and 169, for activities conducted

under the ecological inventory and monitoring program of the endangered
4
resources program, for the aquatic and terrestrial resources inventory under s.
5
23.09 (2) (km),
for deer carcass disposal sites under s. 29.063 (7), for chronic wasting
6
disease education,
for providing the signage required under s. 23.118, and for
7
payments of $53,700 in each fiscal year, to be credited to the appropriation account
8
under s. 20.285 (1) (k), to the University of Wisconsin System for outdoor skills
9
training under s. 29.598.
