chiropractors to perform school employee health examinations.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, a school board must, as a condition of employment, require a physical examination of every individual employed by the school board who comes in contact with children or who handles or prepares food for children while they are under the supervision of school authorities. The physical examination must include a screening questionnaire for tuberculosis and, if indicated, a test to determine the presence or absence of tuberculosis in a communicable form. Currently, the physical examination must be performed by a physician, naturopathic doctor, physician assistant, or advanced practice nurse prescriber. Under this bill, the physical examination may also be performed by a chiropractor.
