Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the Department of Workforce Development awards grants for various workforce training purposes under what is commonly known as the Fast Forward Program. Under the Fast Forward Program, grants may be awarded for programs that train teachers and that train individuals to become teachers, including teachers in dual enrollment programs.
This bill adds, as an authorized Fast Forward grant purpose, programs that provide evidence-based educational training, leadership development, on-site job experience, and other support to provide individuals with skills and experience needed to pursue careers as teachers.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as an appendix to this bill.
