Relating to:
recognizing December 25 as the celebration of the birth of Our Lord

Jesus Christ.

Whereas, long ago in Galilee, the angel Gabriel told the Virgin Mary that she
4
would give birth to a son named Jesus; and

Whereas, Mary and her husband, Joseph, traveled to Bethlehem in Judea, and
6
while there, the time came for Mary to have her child; and

Whereas, Mary wrapped her newborn son in strips of cloth and laid him in a
8
manger, for there was no room for them in the inn; and

Whereas, on that holy night, an angel alerted nearby shepherds that the Son
10
of God was born, and they came to visit Him; and

Whereas, eight days after His birth, the baby boy was named Jesus; and

Whereas, in celebration of the birth of our Savior, wise men followed the Star
13
of Bethlehem to the baby Jesus, bearing gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to

honor His divinity and kingship; and

Whereas, December 25, the holiday we celebrate as Christmas, offers
2
Christians the opportunity to honor the birth of Jesus Christ; and

Whereas, in observance of Christmas, Christians attend church service, share
4
special meals with loved ones, sing carols, and pray for forgiveness and peace on
5
Earth; and

Whereas, this day reminds us of His gift of salvation and love, which we share
7
through charity and generosity; and

Whereas, it is incumbent upon the legislature to honor December 25 as a
9
sacred day for millions of Christians across Wisconsin; now, therefore, be it

senate

assembly
concurring, That
the Wisconsin

Legislature hereby recognizes December 25 as the celebration of the birth of Our
12
Lord Jesus Christ.
