Relating to:
recognizing February 6 as Ronald Reagan Day in Wisconsin.

Whereas, President Ronald Wilson Reagan was a man of humble background,
3
having been employed as an entertainer, a union leader, the governor of California,
4
and the president of the United States; and

Whereas, Reagan served as the 40th president of the United States for two
6
terms; at the general election of the second, he earned the confidence of three-fifths
7
of the electorate and was victorious in 49 of the 50 states—a record unsurpassed in
8
the history of American presidential elections; and

Whereas, in 1981, when he was inaugurated as president, Reagan inherited a
10
disillusioned nation shackled by rampant inflation and high unemployment; and

Whereas, Reagan’s sunny optimism and strong belief in the power of the
12
individual revitalized the nation in one of the longest economic expansions in
13
American history; and

Whereas, Reagan’s commitment to our armed forces allowed the United States

to achieve “peace through strength” and prepared the country’s armed forces to
2
meet 21st century challenges; and

Whereas, Reagan’s speech at the Berlin Wall helped end the Cold War and
4
contributed to the demise of the Soviet Union, freeing millions of individuals from
5
the shackles of communism; and

Whereas, February 6, 2026, is the 114th anniversary of Ronald Reagan’s
7
birth; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the
senate
, the
assembly
concurring, That
the Wisconsin
9
Legislature hereby recognizes February 6 as Ronald Reagan Day in Wisconsin and
10
urges the citizens of the state to take cognizance of this event and participate
11
fittingly in its observance.
