Whereas, Patrick Eli Fuller was born to Sam and Irene Fuller on February 24,

1954, in Rossford, Ohio; and

Whereas, Chief Clerk Fuller graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School,

received a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Toledo, and received a
7
master’s of business administration from Touro University; and

Whereas, Chief Clerk Fuller enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as an
9
infantryman, serving as a team leader, squad leader, infantry instructor, and
10
platoon sergeant; and

Whereas, Chief Clerk Fuller was later commissioned as a second lieutenant of
12
marines from Officer Candidates School; and

Whereas, Chief Clerk Fuller then served as platoon commander, company

commander, and assistant operations officer in the 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion,

2nd Marine Division, as well as a course team director at the Amphibious

Reconnaissance School, Naval Amphibious Base; and

Whereas, Chief Clerk Fuller, after serving 13 years in the United States

Marine Corps, transferred to the United States Army, serving as a battalion

logistics officer and later a company commander within the 82nd Airborne Division;

Whereas, Chief Clerk Fuller was deployed in support of Operation Desert

Shield and Operation Desert Storm as commander of the Long Range Surveillance

Detachment, 82nd Airborne Division, and then became company commander of the

Long Range Surveillance Company, XVIII Airborne Corps; and

Whereas, Chief Clerk Fuller retired in 1997 as battalion executive officer, 6th

Infantry Division, with the rank of lieutenant colonel; and

Whereas, over his 25-year career in the United States military, Chief Clerk

Fuller received the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Marine Corps Commendation

Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Marine Corps Expedition Medal, Marine Corps

Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation,

Army Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service

Master Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Ranger Tab, Combat Diver Badge,

Whereas, Chief Clerk Fuller was appointed as assistant assembly chief clerk

in 2001; and

Whereas, Chief Clerk Fuller was elected as assembly chief clerk in 2003; and

Whereas, Chief Clerk Fuller earned the respect of many state officials and

employees for his management of assembly operations, as well as his assistance

with state government procedures and issues; and

Whereas, Chief Clerk Fuller retired from his position as assembly chief clerk

in 2021, having served the assembly across 10 legislative sessions with both

Republican and Democratic majorities; and

Whereas, Chief Clerk Fuller and his wife Cheryl Fuller, whom he married in
11
August of 1981, were respected members of both their parish and local community;

Whereas, Chief Clerk Fuller was a loving husband to his wife Cheryl, father to

his son Samuel John Fuller, and grandfather to his grandson Nikoli Fuller; and
