Relating to:
honoring the life of Anne Arnesen.

Whereas, Anne Arnesen, a longtime advocate for children and families, passed
3
away on January 14, 2026; and

Whereas, Anne was born in Allegan, Michigan, on May 21, 1932, and moved to
5
the Madison area with her husband, Dick, and her two children in the 1960s; and

Whereas, Anne was a fearless community leader, school board member,
7
activist, and women’s rights advocate; and

Whereas, for 22 years, Anne led the Wisconsin Council on Children and
9
Families (now known as Kids Forward), the state’s leading advocacy organization
10
for children; and

Whereas, Anne was committed to her community, serving on the board for the
12
Kids Forward Foundation, the Madison Children’s Museum, the Madison Public
13
Schools Foundation, NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin, and Solace Friends; and

Whereas, Anne believed in the power of civil service, serving on the Madison
1
School Board from 1980 to 1989, joining the League of Women Voters, and being
2
active in Grandparents United for Madison Public Schools (GRUMPS); and

Whereas, Anne was a progressive political leader and activist, committed to
4
economic and social justice and ensuring that vulnerable people have the
5
opportunity to thrive in Wisconsin; now, therefore, be it

the Wisconsin State Legislature do hereby honor the life and legacy of Anne

Arnesen.
