honoring the life and public service of Representative Jim Soletski.

Whereas, James “Jim” Robert Soletski was born to John and Caroline Soletski
3
on October 7, 1948, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the fourth of their seven children; and

Whereas, Jim Soletski graduated from Preble High School in Green Bay,
5
attended the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay, and graduated from the
6
University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point with a bachelor’s degree in education; and

Whereas, Jim Soletski worked for many years in the energy industry,
8
including as a senior analyst at the Kewaunee Power Station; and

Whereas, Jim Soletski was a local, state, and national representative for Al-
10
Anon, as well as a longtime member of and leader in Justice Organization Sharing
11
Hope & United for Action (JOSHUA); and

Whereas, Jim Soletski was elected to represent the 88th Assembly District in
13
November 2006 as a proud Democrat and went on to serve in the Wisconsin State
14
Assembly for two consecutive terms; and

Whereas, during his second term in the assembly, Jim Soletski served as the
2
chair of the Assembly Committee on Energy and Utilities, cochair of the Assembly
3
Special Committee on Clean Energy Jobs, vice chair of the Assembly Committee on
4
Consumer Protection, and vice chair of the Assembly Committee on Elections and
5
Campaign Reform; and

Whereas, Jim Soletski served on the 2008 Special Committee on State-Tribal
7
Relations and was a passionate advocate for respecting Native American culture;

and

Whereas, Jim Soletski was a loving father to his two daughters and

grandfather to his grandson and grandpup; and

Whereas, Jim Soletski passed away on August 20, 2024, at the age of 75; and

Whereas, Jim Soletski is missed for his quick wit, empathy, and service to
13
others by his family, friends, and former colleagues; now, therefore, be it

concurring, That
the members of

the Wisconsin State Legislature join in honoring the life and public service of

Representative Jim Soletski and extend their condolences to his family and friends.
