Whereas, Wisconsin is home to over 11,000 amateur radio operators,

commonly known as “hams,” who have been a vital part of our communities,
5
providing reliable communication support during emergencies and public service
6
events; and

Whereas, Wisconsin’s numerous amateur radio clubs have been instrumental
8
in promoting technical education, community service, and emergency preparedness
9
throughout the state; and

Whereas, amateur radio operators in Wisconsin partner with organizations

such as ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service), RACES (Radio Amateur Civil
12
Emergency Service), and local emergency management agencies to provide
13
dependable backup communications during times of crisis, ensuring public safety
14
and continuity of service when traditional systems fail; and

Whereas, the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), the leading organization

for amateur radio in the U.S., has designated June 22 to 28, 2025, as Amateur

Radio Week to recognize the contributions of amateur radio operators nationwide;
