Relating to:
supporting the induction of Jack Vainisi into the Pro Football Hall of

Fame.

Whereas, Jack Vainisi began his stellar football career as a lineman at St.
4
George High School and the University of Notre Dame, before being drafted into the
5
United States Army; and

Whereas, during his service in post-war Japan, Jack Vainisi worked in the
7
headquarters of General Douglas MacArthur while also playing football on General
8
MacArthur’s service team; and

Whereas, Jack Vainisi unfortunately became ill with rheumatic fever, leading
10
to a medical discharge and the end of his playing career; and

Whereas, Jack Vainisi later returned to the University of Notre Dame to
12
complete his degree, graduating in 1950; and

Whereas, shortly after his graduation, the Green Bay Packers hired Jack
14
Vainisi as a scout; and

Whereas, Jack Vainisi revolutionized the scouting profession, establishing an
2
extensive information network that allowed him to compile detailed scouting
3
reports on more than 4,000 players throughout his career; and

Whereas, Jack Vainisi personally encouraged Vince Lombardi to seek the
5
position of head coach and general manager for the Green Bay Packers, leading to
6
the establishment of one of the most dominant dynasties in football history; and

Whereas, in addition to Lombardi, Jack Vainisi is credited with bringing a
8
total of 12 other eventual Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees into the Packers
9
organization: Herb Adderley, Willie Davis, Bobby Dillon, Forrest Gregg, Paul

Hornung, Henry Jordan, Jerry Kramer, Ray Nitschke, Jim Ringo, Bart Starr, Jim
11
Taylor, and Willie Wood; and

Whereas, in large part due to Jack Vainisi’s contributions, the Green Bay
13
Packers won both Super Bowl I and Super Bowl II, as well as five National Football
14
League championships; and

Whereas, Jack Vainisi was beloved by his team and colleagues, as
16
demonstrated by the team’s attendance at his funeral after his tragic and untimely
17
passing in 1960; and

Whereas, Jack Vainisi was inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame in 1982 in
19
recognition of his invaluable contributions to the Green Bay Packers organization;

Whereas, Jack Vainisi’s talents and accomplishments were recognized by his
22
contemporaries, with former National Football League Commissioner Bert Bell
23
describing him as “one of the best young executives and scouts in the league”; and

Whereas, Jack Vainisi had an immeasurable and unmistakable impact on the

National Football League, as well as professional football broadly; now, therefore, be
