congratulating the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Baseball

Team on winning the 2025 NCAA Division III National Championship.

Whereas, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Baseball Team won a
4
record-breaking third title after securing the 2025 NCAA Division III National
5
Championship on June 4, 2025; and

Whereas, after a historic tournament run, the UW-Whitewater Baseball Team
7
defeated Messiah University 21-5 in a best-of-three series, which the team swept,
8
setting a new DIII record with 74 runs scored over the course of the tournament
9
and finishing the season with 49 wins and 6 losses—the most in program history;

and

Whereas, the Warhawks scored double-digit runs in four out of five of the
12
College World Series tournament games in the 2025 season; and

Whereas, during the final game, Junior Andy Thies hit a three-run home run
14
in the top of the first inning, Sophomore Aaron Holland hit an RBI single to the left
1
in the top of the second inning, and Senior Darryl Jackson hit a single at the top of
2
the fourth inning; and

Whereas, Senior Matt Scolan registered his 300th career hit on a two-run

home run in the sixth inning; and

Whereas, Junior Cade Hansen pitched 5.1 innings, struck out four, issued no

walks, and allowed only two runs on three hits; and

Whereas, Senior Adam Cootway was named Most Outstanding Player of the

tournament, was responsible for 18 Warhawk runs, hit four home runs over the
9
course of the tournament, and set multiple records in the eight-team College World
10
Series with 12 runs, 34 total bases, and two triples; and

Whereas, the team was led by 2025 DIII Baseball All-Tournament Team

members Senior Adam Cootway, Senior Eli Frank, Junior Andy Thies, Junior

Sophomore Ben Lee, who were joined by teammates Senior Charlie Bogue, Junior

Whereas, Head Coach John Vodenlich celebrated his 800th career win this

season, and the team has not finished with a losing record since he took over the

program in 2004; and

Whereas, 2025 was the 10th College World Series appearance in program

history and the third NCAA DIII National Championship win for the UW-
15
Whitewater Baseball program, with prior wins in 2005 and 2014; and

integrity, leadership, and excellence the team has demonstrated during this

historic season; now, therefore, be it

the members of

the Wisconsin State Legislature do hereby congratulate and commend the

University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Baseball Team, coaching staff, and athletic

department on winning the 2025 NCAA Division III National Championship title

and wish the student-athletes, coaches, and staff continued success on and off the
2
field.
