Whereas, the history of the U.S. Marine Corps began with a vote taken by the

Continental Congress on November 10, 1775, to raise two battalions of marines for

service during the American Revolutionary War; and

Whereas, the U.S. Marine Corps thus celebrates November 10 as its official

birthday; and

Whereas, November 10, 2025, will be the U.S. Marine Corps’s 250th birthday;

Whereas, in celebration of this historic date, we recognize the U.S. Marine

Corps for its valiant and unwavering service to our country, constitution, and

liberties for the past 250 years; and

Whereas, over 165,000 active-duty marines are currently stationed around the

world to courageously defend our nation with unparalleled devotion; and

Whereas, hundreds of marines have trained at Fort McCoy in Monroe County,

where many hone their skills in live-fire exercises, medical training, and other

activities, while some brave few demonstrate their remarkable grit in the Cold

Weather Operations Course; and

Whereas, every marine upholds and honors the U.S. Marine Corps’s motto of

Semper Fidelis
, “always faithful,” in their service to our nation and ideals; and

Whereas, the people of Wisconsin sincerely appreciate the U.S. Marine Corps’s

marines, veterans, and civilians for their sacrifices made in the name of the United
