Relating to:
honoring the U.S. service members who lost their lives during the
2
initial actions of the ongoing conflict with Iran.

Whereas, on February 28, 2026, the United States, in coordination with the
4
State of Israel, launched Operation Epic Fury to attack the Islamic Republic of
5
Iran; and

Whereas, as a result of the attacks, key Iranian officials have been killed,
7
including Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, who ruled Iran as
8
a brutal dictator for 36 years; and

Whereas, Iran responded by launching widespread missile and drone counter
10
attacks against Israel, neighboring Arab states, and U.S. military bases in the
11
region; and

Whereas, over 400 members of Wisconsin’s Army National Guard are
13
stationed in the Middle East, operating in Kuwait and Iraq, and supporting key
14
operations of the U.S. strikes on Iran; and

Whereas, as of March 15, 2026, seven members of the U.S. Armed Forces have
2
been killed and approximately 140 service members have been wounded in military
3
offensives, and an additional seven individuals have died in the course of their
4
service from non-combat-related causes; and

Whereas, the U.S. government has released information about the deceased:

Sergeant First Class Nicole M. Amor, Sergeant Declan J. Coady, Captain Cody A.
7
Khork, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert M. Marzan, Major Jeffrey R. O’Brien, and
8
Sergeant First Class Noah L. Tietjens, who were assigned to the 103rd
9
Sustainment Command based in Des Moines, Iowa; and

Whereas, the U.S. Central Command has announced that these service
11
members were killed in an Iranian strike on a base housing American troops in
12
Kuwait; and

Whereas, Sergeant Benjamin N. Pennington, of the 1st Space Battalion of the
14
1st Space Brigade in Fort Carson, Colorado, died after being wounded during an
15
Iranian strike on an air base in Saudi Arabia; and

Whereas, Major Sorffly Davius, of the New York Army National Guard 42nd
17
Infantry Division, died of non-combat-related causes while deployed as a part of
18
Operation Epic Fury in Kuwait; and

Whereas, Major John A. Klinner, Technical Sergeant Ashley B. Pruitt, and
20
Captain Ariana G. Savino of the 6th Air Refueling Wing of the MacDill Air Force
21
Base in Florida and Captain Curtis J. Angst, Captain Seth R. Koval, and Technical
22
Sergeant Tyler H. Simmons of the 121st Air Refueling Wing at Rickenbacker Air
23
National Guard Base in Columbus, Ohio, perished in a crash of their KC-135
24
Stratotanker aircraft in Iraq; and

Whereas, the circumstances of the incident are currently under investigation
2
and the U.S. Central Command has stated the crash was not the result of hostile or
3
friendly fire; and

Whereas, Americans will remember the bravery of these fallen service
5
members who suffered injury and lost their lives during the involvement of the
6
United States in Iran; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the
senate
, That
the members of the Wisconsin State Senate
8
honor the memory and service of these fallen service members and extend their
9
deepest condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of these fallen service
10
members; and, be it further

Resolved, That
the members of the Wisconsin State Senate extend their
12
deepest gratitude to the American personnel who are still in harm’s way during this
13
ongoing conflict; their service is of immeasurable value to our nation.
