WORKING DRAFT 2005 STATE OF WYOMING 05LSO-0152.E1 HOUSE BILL NO. HB0051 Public schools-high school diploma endorsements. Sponsored by: Joint Education Interim Committee A BILL for AN ACT relating to public schools; eliminating required high school diploma endorsements specifying different types of student proficiency; modifying graduation requirements; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming: Section 1. W.S. 21 ‑ 2 ‑ 304(a)(iv)(intro) is amended to read: 21 ‑ 2 ‑ 304. Duties of the state board of education. (a) The state board of education shall: (iv) E stablish, in consultation with local school districts, requirements for students to earn a high school diploma as measured by each district's body of evidence assessment system prescribed by rule and regulation of the state board and required under W.S. 21 ‑ 3 ‑ 110(a)(xxii). A high school diploma shall provide for one (1) of the following endorsements which shall be stated on the transcript of each student: 21 ‑ 3 ‑ 110(a)(xxiv) in not less than five (5) of the nine (9) content areas as determined by the board of trustees of the respective school district. Commencing with requirements for students graduating in school year 2007-2008, two (2) of the five (5) content areas shall include language arts and math; Section 2. W.S. 21 ‑ 2 ‑ 304(a)(iv)(A) through (C) and 21 ‑ 3 ‑ 110(a)(xxv) are repealed. Section 3. This act is effective July 1, 2005. (END) 1 HB0051
